Invitation for papers - Neolithic in Macedonia III
Archaeological Museum of Macedonia
We are pleased to announce the third conference Neolithic in Macedonia that will take place on the 13th of December 2017 at the Archaeological Museum of Macedonia.
Previous two editions of this conference proved that Neolithic in Macedonia is actively being researched and that there are still many open questions regarding the beginnings, character and cessation of this very complex prehistoric period. These last few years the Neolithic in Macedonia, but also in the region, is more intensely researched, thus resulting in numerous information that either complete or change the concept of demographic, economical, architectural, social, climate, symbolical and ritual aspects of the Neolithic.
Meanwhile, a significant number of previous researches of Neolithic settlements remains insufficiently elaborated in the scientific milieu, resulting in a large scope of material culture and architectural data still requiring more thorough interpretation and presentation. Having said this, the conference will be a great opportunity to present ongoing investigations, but also new insights of information obtained from previous excavations and to entice new discussions that will facilitate understanding the Neolithic.
In order to participate at the conference, we kindly ask you to confirm your attendance and send the title and the abstract of your topic, not later than 15th November 2017. Title and topic should refer to material culture, settlements, geography or economic, social, symbolical and climate processes typical of the Neolithic in Macedonia. The abstract should not exceed 200 words and be sent to centerforprehistoricresearch@gmail.com along with your name and the institution you are representing.
At the conference, we will launch a volume of papers presented last year. This year’s presentations will be published in a separate volume next year, one that will sublimate the latest research and insight of domestic and foreign archaeologists. The conference will be organized by the Center for Prehistoric Research and the Archaeological Museum of Macedonia, with a support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Macedonia. Participation will be free, all interested colleagues and students are welcome. Participants from towns in Macedonia will be reimbursed for their travels expenses.
