Photogrammetric documentation of Neolithic house models
Museum of the City of Skopje, museums and institutes for protection of cultural heritage from Bitola and Prilep
As part of the BIRTH: Prehistoric fertility in the Balkans between 10 000 - 5 000 cal BC project, the Neolithic house models from the Museum of the City of Skopje and the museums and institutes for protection of cultural heritage from Bitola and Prilep were photogrammetrically documented. This method encompasses a detailed photographing of the objects from multiple aspects and software processing of the photographs in order to obtain 3D model of the objects. These digital models provide documenting of all the features of the artifacts and a possibility for their detailed analysis with no physical manipulation which could result in damage of the objects. Therefore, these exclusive Neolithic objects were digitalized for the first time which would enable many researchers indirect analysis and thorough insight of their structure. These 3D models could also be used in various presentations and exhibitions of the cultural heritage. 3D animations of Neolithic house models from Macedonia were presented at one such exhibition (New Age: the life of mothers and babies of the Neolithic in the Balkans) at the Rectorate of the University of Novi Sad.
