“The Neolithic in Macedonia: Homage to Dragica Simoska” Journal
This year’s journal is a compilation of the articles presented at the conference titled The Neolithic in Macedonia V held in 2019 in honor of the veteran of the Neolithic archaeology in Macedonia, Dragica Simoska. Her role in the discovery and study of multiple prehistoric sites, especially in Pelagonia, was crucial for all future generations interested both in this region and time period. The results of various investigations made by the so-called Lioness of Pelagonia can be directly seen through Velushina-Porodin, probably the most authentic Neolithic culture in the Balkans. Being part of the next generation, we pay our respects to her with this publication that includes many articles whose subject matter exceeds the usual framework of archaeological resources. In this regard, contemporary and interdisciplinary approach has been applied in the study of the Pelagonian ambient, sites and material culture, as well as its surroundings, and certain artifacts and chronological systems from Macedonia and the wider regions underwent new research and perspectives. Therefore, we believe that such a publication is the most appropriate manner of keeping the memory of Dragica Simoska alive.
