Neolithic in Macedonia: a step forward in study of the first agricultural societies

Skopje: CPR - Center for prehistoric research, 2017.

The edited book entitled ‘Neolithic in Macedonia: a step forward in study of the first agricultural societies’ is the second volume resulting from the conference bearing the same name. It is traditionally held by the end of each year. Archaeologists present their insight of new and old research of Neolithic sites in Macedonia. The edited book also contains several papers presented at the conference referring to sites from the regions of Ohrid, Pelagonia, Mariovo and Skopje, but also material culture from all over the country. The edited begins with a review of Early Neolithic in the Ohrid region and continues with the settlements near the marshy lake in the region of Skopje. Next group of papers deals with objects found next to ovens and ceramic items from many parts of Macedonia. The last whole of archaeological contributions focuses on Pelagonia and Mariovo, especially the latest results of geomagnetic scanning of tells and following the continuity of house models during the Eneolithic. Generally, this volume covers a wide array of topics witnessing the rich Neolithic cultural heritage and the complex character of Neolithic communities, their material culture and architecture.
