“The Neolithic in Macedonia: Homage to Voislav Sanev” Journal

This year’s journal is a compilation of some of the articles presented at the conference titled The Neolithic in Macedonia IV held in 2018 in honor of the eminent Macedonian archaeologist Voislav Sanev. A veteran of Balkan archaeology, he played a key role in the establishment of general principles of the Neolithic in Macedonia, hence the jubilee marking 80 years since his birth was most appropriately noted with an event that emphasized his contribution to the study of this period, but also the latest scientific achievements and acknowledgments on the first agricultural communities. The conference was jointly organized by the Center for Prehistoric Research and the Archaeological Museum of Macedonia. Most of the participants knew Voislav Sanev personally and shared both their memories of him and their ongoing investigations. Considering Sanev’s significance in Macedonian archaeology, an event that paid homage to him was more than welcome. Therefore, this journal is also being published in his honor.
